Cari Zalloni for Steuler Lamp base in Chocolate Brown
£220.00
This is a sumptuous three facet ceramic lamp base in chocolate brown by legendary designer Cari Zalloni for German company Steuler Keramik. It comes complete with a new barrel shade in cream, new wiring in black fabric twist and a new vintage=look brass lamp holder.
The lamp base is 23cm high and 15cm wide. The shade is 20cm high and 30cm wide.
The condition of the lamp base is good overall, but there is a small area of damage to the bottom of one corner on the lowest facet, which has been sympathetically repaired to match the main glaze colour. This repair is shown on the photographs, and the price has been adjusted significantly in recognition of this. There are no other chips, marks or repairs, save an almost imperceptible scratch to the surface of one of the facets on one side of the lamp.
Cari Zalloni was born in Athens but moved to Austria with his family as a young boy. After studying at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna he embarked on a career as a designer, initially in Italy designing furniture, and then in 1962 moving to Germany to design decorative glassware and ceramics for West German pottery and glass manufacturer Steuler. During the 60's and early 70's he designed iconic pop and space-age inspired pieces.
In the mid-70's he teamed up with entrepreneur Günter Böttche to design and launch the Cazal eyewear brand, producing street-cool designs that are still sold today and have been worn by the likes or Darryl McDaniels of Run DMC, MC Hammer, LL Cool J, Spike Lee, and Rick Ross.
This is a great opportunity to own an original 60's design icon at a significantly reduced price.
Delivery is free of charge within the UK.
